I do one of these blogs every year (more or less) and now it seems that I also, less intentionally, put up a different podcast each year.

This time it's Stupid Nerd, a podcast where I interview people about nerdy things I'm interested in but probably won't ever get around to reading or watching. The first one is on The Green Lantern. The second is about those Twilight books.

You can find it in iTunes by searching for "stupid nerd." I'm too lazy to make an official web page for the podcast, but if you don't want to go through iTunes, you can also find the audio files here.

Your podcast isn't working in Itunes yet. The episodes show up, but it won't let you download them.

Dammit. You're right. I can't for the life of me figure out why it's not working through iTunes when the files are there. Bah.

Time to give up on the internet entirely.

Okay... I believe I've fixed it. For anyone who cares about these sorts of things:

My old podcast, Mystery Cove, has been hosted on LibSyn for a while, even though I haven't updated it for month and months. With Stupid Nerd, I wanted to use the same hosting service I was paying for with Mystery Cove, and just add Stupid Nerd on there, since I wasn't using my monthly allotment (leaving myself open to eventually bringing Mystery Cove back, which I hope to do, just no time soon).

So... I could host Stupid Nerd with Mystery Cove but they share one feed, just with a split tag at the end. Then I used Blogger to post each file I was hosting on LibSyn and then used Feedburner to turn that into a feed that iTunes would recognize. A lot of extra steps just so Stupid Nerd woudln't be called Mystery Cove and vice versa.

Anyway, probably too many steps, and it must have been messing with iTunes's head. So, I figure out how to cut Blogger out of the equation by just hooking Feedburner up to the Stupid Nerd tag on my LibSyn account. (and now that I think of it, I could probably cut Feedburner out of that too, but I'm too lazy to do that now). But, this led to the Stupid Nerd podcast showing up as Mystery Cove podcast (stupidnerd) in iTunes. So, I changed the overall name to "Arnie Niekamp presents..." (which I hate, but I can't think of anything better for now) so Stupid Nerd subscribers will get "Arnie Niekamp presents... (stupidnerd)" and Mystery Cove subscribers will get "Arnie Niekamp presents... (mysterycove)." I'll try to come up with a better name solution eventually, but for now it works.

Don't worry, I don't understand half of what I just said either, which is the problem.

But, long jumbled story short, you should be able to get it through iTunes now.

I had no trouble downloading from Itunes on Friday. Listened to both over the weekend. The Twilight one was fantastic... I loved the panting dog coiciding with the Werewolf segments. Thanks to this discussion, I probably won't read them. They sound scarily like Harlequin's with a bit of Mormon scare thrown in. But, who knows... I do like me a good lifetime movie. So, who knows.. maybe base romantic instinct will win out.
